As one of the unique instrumental ensembles in YCIS, the Chinese Ensemble offers a fusion musical experience between Chinese and Western instruments. With a focus on traditional as well as contemporary genres, this group ventures through customised music arrangements that students will perform in a series of school performances.
Teacher in Charge - Dr Yeung Yu
Dr. Yu Yeung joined Yew Chung in 2010. As a teacher, composer, and pianist, Dr. Yu has successfully cultivated many piano pupils in the process of transitioning from the beginner to advanced level, organized numerous solo recitals and concerts for students, composed and arranged various pieces for the school orchestras and ensembles. Dr. Yu holds a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) degree from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, a Master of Music (MM) degree from Texas State University, a Professional Diploma in Piano from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, and a Bachelor of Music (BMus) degree from the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, China. Dr. Yu serves on the juries of multiple prestigious music competitions in Hong Kong and Mainland China. Prior to joining Yew Chung, Dr. Yu served as a piano faculty member at Shenzhen Art School and the Central Conservatory of Music Piano Academy at Gulangyu.

Audition arrangement:
Format: video submission
A short piece of own choice (2-3 mins), ABRSM Grade 3 or above. Submit video online by 28 August, 2023 at 5:00pm
甄選安排：

Register here to participate in the audition by 28 August. Parents and students will receive an email notification regarding the audition results in early September.
